The Psychodynamic Approach
-
At the heart of this endeavour is the therapeutic relationship.
Through this, a safe space can be created in which to work
together on issues which may be causing concern or distress.
-
The unconscious is seen as an important factor in this
approach. Valuable insights can be gained by making links
between past and present patterns of thinking, feeling and
acting, particularly in the way we relate to others.
-
Dreams can be another way of gaining access to unconscious
processes and increasing understanding.
-
A wide range of issues can be worked on using this approach.
These include anxiety, depression, bereavement and other
forms of loss, stress, identity, mid-life crisis, self-esteem, anger,
life-style issues etc.
